The Fourth Annual Long Wittenham Fun Run & Walk took place on
Sunday
May 22nd 2011.
Over 150 people finished the Long Wittenham 5K family fun run and walk on Sunday - a record since this popular family race was re born 4 years ago. The Beech brothers from Didcot took centre stage, with 16 year old Josh, 16, who runs for Abingdon Amblers, the overall winner in 18 mins 54 secs. Younger brother, 13 year old Kieran was the Orange Morph Man and finished in 33 mins, and Marcus, aged 7, finished in a respectable 35 minutes. First lady was Eileen Naughton in 25 mins 59 secs. Last home were the three legged race winners, Phoebe Gitsham (10) and Ola Bowtell (9), from Long Wittenham. Best local man was Matt Clifton who finished in 20 mins 10 secs.
Many thanks to the volunteers (over 30 of you!) who helped with marshalling the course, organising the entries and results, keeping the event rolling with the announcements, and producing the well earned BBQ. Many thanks too to Sandra & Mel for allowing us to take over their lovely pub gardens at the Plough.
We hope you'll all be back to run, walk or help out next year!
